Meet Your Moderator Deanna Moyers of Vintage Touch

I’ve had a passion for old things (especially country primitives) since early in my life. This passion progressed from collector to dealer and includes my passion for using antiques in home decor. I have produced a number of short narrated decorating videos that can be selected from the list of videos on my IAO page at: http://iantiqueonline.ning.com/profile/DeannaMoyers.

I currently sell under the name Vintage Touch, in a brick & mortar antique mall called Antique Crossroads located in Hagerstown, MD. In addition to this, I also have a VINTAGE online store at: http://deannamoyers.ecrater.com .

I'm wishing everyone in the 'All Things Primitive' group a very Merry Christmas.  In the spirit of children from the past, I've designed a Christmas card for you.

I wish all of you happiness in business and with your families.

I would like to take a moment and wish everyone in the group a happy and safe Thanksgiving.  I'm thankful for so many things, including the very nice people on IAO.  Have fun with your antiques as you enjoy family and celebrate this time of your life.

I posted this here at Diane's suggestion to try to stimulate our groups with some type of game or something.  You're probably right, it would have gotten more attention in the other group, but it was still fun to add it to the primitive group.

Deanna - it probably would have gotten a lot of suggestions if you had posted it in Guess What this is - I think it would have been fun!

Here are some early primitive clay marbles....one of the earliest toys that children enjoyed.  These little marbles are without dyes (introduced into the clay in the 19th century) but these show the various colors of the natural clay.  They are irregular in their shape which makes them have a little wobble when rolled.  Currently for sale at the Vintage Touch online store at: http://deannamoyers.ecrater.com/p/12693428/antique-clay-marbles-12-...

I guess there is no one else out there that want to venture a guess as to what the object is that's posted just below the halloween group...............so here is the answer. As I said, Craig was no doubt correct about one of its uses, but also this object (in different sizes) was something in homes that people used as a FIRE ALARM!  If there was a fire, you twirled this around............and it created such a racket that people all around knew there was a fire, and came running with buckets etc to help put out the fire!
