I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

Hi!  I have had this nice sized copper jug for a year or two now,  it stands about 10" in height, base diameter 6", circumference is roughly 33".  I included a root beer can in photo to give an idea of size.  As you can see, it is not in perfect condition, but the nice thing is that the dent and green spots are mostly on the one side so that if someone wanted it for display, they can just display the "good" side.

I have had several dealers look at it, some think it is very old, others think it is newer, no more than 50 years old.  Nobody seems to know for sure, but they do agree it is an "unusual form".

I am trying to find out any information on it re: age, country of origin, maker, etc., all information or opinions are welcome, or if someone knows of a dealer who specializes in this type of item please let me know! Thanks for looking :)

I'd say it looks to be from the Arts and Crafts period - which is roughly 1890 - 1910. Seems to be incomplete though, it should have something else at the top?
Hi Vicki, thanks for responding... I was wondering the same thing, seems like at one time there must have been a cap or something, or would a cork have been used?  Wondering what would have been stored in it?
Hi Deanna, thanks for your thoughts, and thank you for creating this great group!
