Vicki shared yesterday that Mid-Century Stoneware is the new hot trend with the younger generation preferring Mid-Century Modern. If I remember correctly, the patterns involved a lot of earth tones and owls and mushrooms. Correct?
But, here is a beautiful stoneware Tea Set with faux woodcarving pattern.
The conversation started with this cup and saucer...which Vicki identified as Japan Stoneware.
Yes Indeed Ellene! They love it all! Everything from the Eva Zeisel and Russel Wright designs of the 50's and 60's right on up to the 70's - (UGLY) "Avocado green and burnt orange" - LOL Mushrooms and owls are ok with me, but I didn't much care for Mom's Burnt orange fridge, nor the "Avocado Green Appliances the first time around! HEHE
I do rather like the Japan Stone wear though. There are lots of neat colors and designs to! At least they ( the young ones) are buying some kind of dishes - Thank Heavens!
I had a burnt orange painted wall in my 70's kitchen with wood knick knacks and copper appliances (I think!) :). The brown stone ware would have been lovely.
Yes, Vicki, we are glad they are buying some kind of dishes!!
These Russell Wright colors in mid-century pottery are not what we had in the 70's!
