I started a discussion a the home page about this Black Frankoma piece -

Can anyone give me some history on this finish?

AND THE WINNER IS......drum roll........Vicki. Actually the mark is Balleroy-Freres, B&Cie, wavy line. (Says it's often confused with B&Co). Circa 1908-1937.

Now then a pattern name would really be appreciated.

Thanks to all who helped.

Hi Tom,. I don't think the mark you have is Bernardaud. The mark you show here belongs to H.A. Balleroy France. Limoges - which is a town, not a company name. Dates given for this mark are 1908 - 1937. I would also place your pattern in this time frame - the design is naturalistic - Art Nouveau or Transitional - moving into the deco period. Try a search using this company name. Hope this helps!

I realized that, but perhaps they might have someone on staff who helps identify older patterns. Lots of companies have an historical section, that is what I was thinking.. You might try emailing them and see if they have someone who has access to the archives.

Barb, I checked out your link and looked at all their designs-nada. I think those designs on the link are their current production. I couldn't find any patterns from long ago but thanks for your help..
tomsantiquesetcetera Comment by tomsantiquesetcetera on July 26, 2009 at 6:18pm
The design appears to be hand-painted. Around the outer edge is a circle of triangles with lines inside each one. They are uneven, small, large, definitely hand-painted. I checked the online marks for Limoges

but couldn't find my mark. Here is another picture of the mark and a closeup of the design.

The mark is from L.Bernardaud & Co which has been around for over 100 years.
They have a web site, wonder if you could see if they might be able to identify the pattern?

Hi Tom, Are you able to share a good pic of markings? Is the decoration hand painted, or does it look more like decal or trasferware? I'll see what I can find out. It looks like a nice pattern!
tomsantiquesetcetera Comment by tomsantiquesetcetera on July 25, 2009 at 8:53pm
I just bought a partial set of Limoges-France "Florale" and for the life of me I cannot find this pattern anywhere. I've checked Replacements Ltd. google and ebay. Many other patterns but not mine. Apparently "Florale" is a style, not a pattern.
Vicki you seem to be the answer gal, any ideas?

On back it has 2 marks, Large green one says Limoges Florale France and smaller dark green mark says Limoges B&C Co France.

Tom
