I found 2 plates in some of my late grandmother's things. She was not one to purchase expensive things, so I am not confident they are real Meissen. I have searched the internet pretty extensively and can't find a pattern that looks like this. I found a similar floral motif and scalloped edge on a plate , and then I found the cobalt and gilt trim on a cup and saucer set, but nothing that has both designs.
The mark on the back would indicate they are from 1924-1934, but I almost wonder if it isn't too crisp. On the back in addition to the mark, are 2 little dash marks also in blue on the foot rim. There is also a number "stamped" on the back, it is "147" with a horizontal "1" above it.
I only photographed one of the plates, but the floral design is a little different on each. Does this look like real Meissen? Any idea of its' value?
Thank you so much! What a nice surprise to find. Where could I go in the Seattle area (or online) to have these appraised? I'm not sure if I want to sell them or not; hunting down what they are is such a treasure hunt that I may need to keep my treasure and start hunting for more =) They really are beautiful.
I just looked and there is another little marking on the foot rim that I thought was just a scratch, but it is the same on both so maybe it is another painter's mark or something. It looks like "v." or that could be upside down. It is much lighter and more of a grey or greenish thin line. I can take a picture of it later if needed, I didn't even notice it the first time =)
