I picked this porcelain plate up in a thrift store several years ago. I knew the back stamp was similar to Meissen but I was comparing it to modern marks. Then I found a website that had the history of Meissen back stamps and I found several early ones that are like this. I had submitted photos to some online china sites but got very unhelpful responses. Some were downright rude.
Besides the crossed swords there is the green 33 and a capital I.
What is there but probably won't show in any of the photos:
Scratched into the porcelain under the glaze is what looks like a script capital T or J and the number 187.
Impressed into the porcelain are 12.
The face of the plate has a lot of gold wear but otherwise the plate is in wonderful condition.
Can anyone give me any information? Does it have value? I've never displayed plates but might this one. What is the best way to hang one on the wall?
If no one knows does anyone know how or where to get trustworthy information. The last response I got said it was worthless but he would give me $100 for it. That made me suspicious.
Thanks in advance.
