Any Moorcroft Pottery experts? I have a question about a bowl I just bought.

Thanks!

The lids themselves are quite interesting - I am not sure if they are EPNS or may be even pewter - if they are EPNS one would expect them to be marked - going by the beaten effect I have a feeling they may be pewter, but I am not sure - good luck with them - in this market it is tough to know what they are worth - This Recession really sucks!!!

Wow! That was quick. You are right, there is nothing Egyptian about this set..LOL! I now have a one eye squint as I have used the loupe and looked at every inch of the lids and could not find one mark :) Here's a picture of them.

Thank you for your help in this. Truly appreciate it.

G'day Sharon - this is a very interesting set of dishes - I particularly like the beaten finish on the metal lids - the lids look to be EPNS - are there any hallmarks. The makers mark dates to the early 1930's - it looks to be a transfer applied pattern over a coral ground - I have not seen this pattern in the hand. However this pattern is pictured on page 75 of "Royal Winton Porcelain, Ceramics Fit for a King" by Eileen Rose Busby. In the description of the photo on page 102 Eileen Busby names the pattern as "Egyptian motif". To me this name does not really fit the scene - it looks to me to be more of an Italian Renaissance scene - no offence meant to Mz Busby.

Hi Bruce. I am glad I found you :) I need help with these pieces of Royal Winton Grimwades I acquired at a sale. Could you tell me what is the pattern and how old these pieces are?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Sharon
