I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

Hello everyone.  I see that sadly this group is not very busy with  postings.  I have several glasses that I have collected over the years.  My In-laws were hoarders to the extreme and so many of them have come from cleaning out their house.  I have given all of my 4 kids one or 2 sets of pretty glasses and so many of the cartoon jelly glasses.  I have kept a a set or 2 for myself too.  I have different sizes and from reading some old posts I am guessing some of them are just pretty colored glasses.  Can anyone suggest a great website that might list or picture a lot of these glasses.  I have many that are just one or 2 of one kind.

Getting older and loving just about anything old and having to do with kitchens I have decided to start using all my my pretty things I love.  My kids are not interested in inheriting them and for the most part are using what I have given them.  I have no desire to make a profit of any of the things I love and have collected and they couldn't care less about their value.  So.....  I think I am going to enjoy them myself.

I am guessing the Dishwasher is harmful for these glasses and swanky swigs?   I have used vintage pyrex for years and it goes right in the DW.  Sorry  for rambling and if any of you can answer my questions I would appreciate it.  Thanks,  Shari

There are swanky swigs and there are look-alikes. I have a reference book that shows all the SS.

Without pictures, your glasses cannot be discussed.

BTW, I just stumbled onto this site by accident. Besides your post the last activity was in 2013....

I grew up in the 40s and 50s, and opened many SS, peanut butter and cottage cheese containers and like everybody else of that time, tossed the empties in the trash.

Yes I know they can't and that is fine.  Like I said above I just wondered if anyone had a good site to go to where I could find out a little more about them.  If I get time I could take some photo's and share them but as quiet as this list was I wasn't sure if anyone would respond to it so thanks for letting me know it is still active!

My reference book is Revised 7th Edition Depression Glass by Gene Florence. ISBN 0-89145-306-7 Pages 192-193.

Barbara Mauzy also has some fine reference books (she's the author).  She is the Moderator of this Group.

You might also check eBay "swanky swigs".
