  Vintage Neon Signs and the Neon Museum in Las Vegas

Vintage neon signs no longer vanish without anyone’s noticing. Preservationists and curators have started monitoring and protecting them across the country, and scholars are documenting gas-infused glass tubes about to be scrapped.

On Oct. 27 the Neon Museum in Las Vegas reopens after a two-year hiatus with a scalloped 1960s motel lobby converted into a visitors’ center. Most of the signs piled around the dusty grounds are dead, but a handful of them have been
