Is your vintage cottage small? Is the square footage of the entire entertaining space less than some palatial master baths? That's my story! :)
After our move to the Western Slope of Colorado a few years ago, I found that even though my "view" had expanded to miles and miles of gorgeous valley, my entertainment area had shrunk considerably!
Recently, I had my Ladies Social Club out for movies and fondue night. We buffeted it and 'cozyed' in on the sectional couch and floor with pillows and blankets. But, what do you do when you want to have a sit down dinner??

As soon as it warms up outside, here's one way to solve the issue...
In the meantime, I have a poem hanging in the mudroom of our cute, little, log cottage that expresses my philosophy.
The Little Home
by Edgar Guest
The little house is not too small
to shelter friends who come to call.
Though low the roof and small its space
it holds the Lord’s abounding grace
and every simple room may be
endowed with happy memory.
The little house, severely plain,
a wealth of beauty may contain.
Within it those who dwell may find
high faith which makes for peace of mind
and that sweet understanding which
can make the poorest cottage rich.
The little house can hold all things
from which the soul’s contentment springs.
It’s not too small for love to grow,
for all the joys that mortals know,
for mirth and song and that delight
which makes the humblest dwelling bright.

So...my solution for Easter Sunday entertaining was to confine my guest list to...2. (smile)
After church, me and my hubby enjoyed a full spread of ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, salad and cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. We fit just fine - cozied up on our couch in front of the TV watching Gone With The Wind! Not our typical way to spend Easter Sunday but it was nice nonetheless.
How did you entertain in YOUR vintage cottage?
