This metal tag has a diameter of approx 1". I am assuming that the hole was so that it could be worn on a necklace. It reads J.G. Selby Dunham P.Q. (?Dunham Province of Quebec) Written around the star you can make out the UN and Y, but I believe that it originally spelled UNITY, there is a small picture in the center of the star, which appears to be a hand plow, but I am really not sure. The only JG Selby in Dunham Quebec that I was able to find on the internet was a witness to a death that took place in 1887 (I am assuming he might have been a doctor or possibly clergy). I read somewhere that the early military personnel took coins or other metal tokens and had their name and home town stamped on them in case they were killed. The back of this tag is blank.

I originally posted this on the Whadja Find group, but I have not had any replies.

Does anyone know what this small tag could be and mean?
