Could some one help me put a name to this? I have looked everywhere but can not find anything like it. I know it was my Great Aunt's, so I am thinking it is from about 1930's or 1940's. I has a bulb in the heavy base with a little green glass which luminates the chariot in the glass that sits on top.
You have a table lamp or back lamp, and since TV arrived, they are also called TV Lamps. Yours is from the Art Deco period, 1920-1939. If you will google "back lamp" "art deco" you will find thousands of hits and possibly can find one like yours. Make sure to put the quote marks (") around the words. You might include other words like chariot or Egyptian.
I hope this helps. I have tried every lighting site, ebay, etc and looked for tv lamps, art deco, pressed glass, etc but can not find anything close. I will try back light. Thanks
I've been looking at over 6,000 hits of "Egyptian Revival" "back lamps". Haven't seen anything close yet. Problem, I think, is that a lot of the lamps were made in France and Austria for European wiring, which is different from US AC/DC wiring and therefore have not been included in US websites. Can you take a picture of your lamp in "Off"" position. Put a white towel under and behind it so we can see the lamp. Illuminate your lamp with sunlight or lots of light. Step back so we can see the whole lamp.
