High quality, affordable antique and vintage home furnishings, silver, and estate jewelry are all on the block at Skinner’s upcoming Discovery auction, September 15th and 16th in Skinner’s Marlborough, Massachusetts gallery, located at 274 Cedar Hill Street.
The auction kicks off on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. with over 200 lots of coin, sterling and silver plated flatware, plus serving and decorative silver items. Following silver is more than 350 lots of great estate jewelry. “We’ve got a great collection of vintage costume jewelry, including some really fun pieces from the 1950s,” says Kerry Shrives, Director of Skinner’s Discovery department. “Famous maker vintage and antique watches are also included in the mix.”
On Thursday, September 16, 2010, the auction begins at 10 a.m. and includes a wide variety of 18th, 19th and 20th century furniture and decorative arts, much of it from local estates and institutions. Highlights of the Thursday session include a collection of Royal Doulton from collector Anne Babchyck in Dedham, Massachusetts. The collection spans the 1940s to 2009 and numbers over 700 pieces. It includes characters, series, animal and historic figures, plus Toby and character jugs. “Also on the block will be a special offering of musical instruments,” notes Shrives. “It’s a great opportunity for parents to get their budding musicians an affordable, high-quality instrument.”
