"Hi, Tom, It's not painted, it's definitely cameo glass that was etched away to reveal the white layer underneath. The black/purple ornament stands a little proud of the white surfaces. The inside is very smooth."

"Can you see (or feel) inside the vase?  The picture you posted makes it look like "reverse painted" glass which has been popular off and on since the 1920s with a lot of reproductions made during the 1970s-80s. Looking at the vase…"

"You need to check out liveauctioneers.com. It appears that a vase or vases that look to be identical to yours have been up for auction many times, but they are described differently each time. The only two words that are the same are monumental vase."

Gallé style vase

Hi, Folks, I recently won this vase at an auction and I'm trying to learn more about it. There are no marks or signature. It's very big - 18 inches tall. To me, it looks French and like it might be from the 1920s. The black glass is almost a deep purple when the light shines through it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,Adrian…See More
