Jeff Guy replied to tony good's discussion Interesting old piece?? in the group Whadja Find Today
"Who knows. Picture is too small. In any case its not old and certainly not antique. You held it in your hand and couldn't tell? What did the auctioneer call it? And why do you care?"

Scott replied to Scott's discussion Another pattern... in the group GLASS HOUND HEAVEN: Antique and Collectible Glassware
"So... Something that doesn't come up when talking about the pattern is the checkering around the lip and bowl.  Flowers in a basket?  I throw out pattern ideas as a mental note."

Whazzit?

I assume this is a pomander jar. It's just over 4" tall. The holes are too large for salt and pepper. Some other suggestions: might also be a muffineer, talc shaker or flower frog, although I doubt a frog - it's too small and has a hole in the bottom. Any opinions?…See More

Interesting old piece??

Need help figuring out what this is.  I attended an auction and was planning on bidding on this.  It ended up going for $65.  Gentleman would not reveal what it was for fear of others bidding against him later.  It is steel and pivots in the center just a bit.  I meant to read the inscription but never had a chance.  The picture was from the auction site and the only one available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks…See More
