Identify type of Bottle?

This is an American Brilliant Cut Glass bottle in a hobnail pattern.  Can anyone tell me what this bottle may have been used for?  I've looked at cruets, flasks, perfume bottle...and I am not certain.  The bottle is 5"H and the cap fits over the opening but is not secure in any way.  The top screws off as seen in the photo.Any help would be appreciated.See More
